Recently, the ABACI teams came together in New Orleans for three days of learning, collaboration, community service, and fun! We arrived Wednesday in the French Quarter to start off our retreat. That evening we started with a large welcome dinner together at the Tackle Box. We enjoyed fresh Oysters, amazing drinks, and great conversation. Its not often that we get a chance to come together like this as a family, but we sure do enjoy seeing each other and spending time together.
Training & Structure
Thursday, we spent the day learning with a series of meetings and presentations around personal growth and team work. The morning started with us discussing career development and project management improvements. These discussions were organized to drive the explosive growth that ABACI has been experiencing this past year. The second half of the day was a leadership workshop led by Kimberly Putman. Kimberly led a fantastic presentation on the dimensions of positive leadership, as well as team building that we cannot wait to start applying to our lives and careers.
Of course, no evening can be complete on an ABACI trip without amazing dinners handpicked by our leader John. Thursday night we enjoyed a great dinner at Herbsairt. For lunch on Friday we stopped for some New Orleans famous PO Boys. We all left extremely full and satisfied and took a few hours off that afternoon before dinner. We all got together for one last dinner later that evening this time at Costera where we enjoyed a family style dinner. As you can tell when it comes to food John Moser has never led us wrong and the ABACI family knows our way around the dinner table.
ABACI Gives Back
Friday started off with a ride on the “Do Good Bus” for a fun day volunteering. ABACI was happy to work with ArcGNO to help sort beads. We worked with an organization that helps individuals with disabilities earn money and educate and provide advocacy. This is done by sorting donated Mardi Gras beads to be resold. We spent the morning sorting beads to do our part to help with this massive task. We learned a lot about the different types of beads and the different organizations that take part in the parades.
No company retreat would be complete without cutting loose and having some fun. We could not think of a better way to use our new teamwork and problem-solving skills, than an escape room. It was a very challenging experience that showed us that every team member has different strengths. It also showed us that through working together we can accomplish anything. We split our company into 4 large teams and each team faced a different challenge. Some of us had to use science to solve problems, some had to use reading skills, and still others had to use their moves on a dance floor.
To end a great trip after dinner on Friday night we set off to Rock N Bowl. Where we listened to awesome music and bowled the night away. It was a Functional Vs. Technical Team Bowl Off. With all the excitement we managed to forget to keep score on which team won.
In the end all that matters is that we are continuing to invest in our employees, their families, and the communities around us. For without these three things ABACI would not be the place it is today. We take pride in what we have built here at ABACI and going into 2020 we are excited for what the future holds.
